The three available Quality Marks are:

VbE School Quality Mark

The VbE School Quality Mark is an independent certification that a school practices VbE effectively. Seeking the Quality Mark helps schools to focus on the effectiveness of their Values practices and teaching, and is quite an invigorating experience.

Audits are valid for three years. Quality Mark schools are authorised to display their quality mark at their school, on their website and in school publicity and stationary. We list Quality Mark schools on our website, and the Quality Mark automatically qualifies schools as Hub schools.

The steps to achieve a Quality Mark are set out below.

  • Step 1
Complete the Values Self-Assessment Tool. This will help you assess how well your procedures and practices are focused towards values modelling and values teaching, and will steer you towards gathering the evidence needed for the audit.

You can download the Tool by clicking here.
  • Step 2
Arrange an audit by VbE or by a VbE Consultant. You can contact us by clicking here.

During the audit, we will draw your attention to any recommendations or suggestions to help increase the impact of VbE at your school. We will run through the key findings of the audit with the senior management and, preferably, with staff at the end of the audit, and we will produce a written report.
  • Step 3 (Optional)
For schools who prefer for a numeric assessment of their engagement with values, the Self-Assessment survey allows you to carry out two surveys, one by all or a representative sample of students, and another by all or a representative sample of staff. It provides a numerical measure for schools of the impact of their values teaching in five distinct areas. The measure also provides a benchmark against which to monitor future progress.
